What is a Student Exchange Program?

Student Exchange Program is a mobility program that allows students to short-term study at a partner institution abroad while remaining enrolled at their home institution, based on a formal inter-institutional agreement.

The student exchange program is not limited to Europe and includes partner institutions in countries such as the United States, Canada, and various countries across Asia, offering students a broad range of academic and cultural experiences worldwide.

Students must return to TEDU at the end of the exchange period and complete their program at TEDU. Participating in the exchange program does not mean the student is transferring to another university. Students can participate in an exchange program for a maximum of one academic year.

All the partner universities and common programs can be accessed though this link: Student Exchange Agreements | TED Üniversitesi

Tuition Fees:

Tuition fees at the host university are waived. However, students are required to continue paying their tuition fees to TED University as usual.

Other Expenses:

Home university does not provide any scholarships for this program. All the expenses such as:

  • Travel and transportation to and from the Host University
  • Accommodation
  • Living costs
  • Health insurance
  • Visa-related expenses
  • Other necessary expenses

are to be covered by the student.

Course Recognition

Students must select the courses they intend to take at the host university and match them with TEDU courses under the supervision of their departmental coordinator using the Course Equivalency form for Exchange mobility. When deciding on course equivalency, the courses at the partner university are expected to be compatible with the courses at TEDU.

Within the scope of the Student Exchange Program, the student is required to take a course load equivalent to 15 TEDU credits. Accordingly, the student should select courses that correspond to this credit requirement.

If outgoing students need to make changes to their study plan (e.g., due to course cancellations or schedule conflicts), they must submit a Course Change Form to the Faculty.

Grades earned at the host university are converted to TEDU’s grading scale and included in the student's GPA. Outgoing Exchange students must complete the Course Substitution Form under the supervision of their coordinator. The form should be submitted to the faculty for official recognition of the courses by the Faculty Board. All courses taken by students within the scope of exchange programs must be included in the TEDU transcripts.

Applications for the Student Exchange Program are always submitted one academic year in advance. Detailed information on the scope of the Student Exchange Program, application requirements, partner universities, and other relevant details is provided during the online information session organized by the International Programs Office.
